Chemical Storage Solutions
Our UN/DOT certified IBC containers meet the strict requirements for storing and transporting industrial chemicals. We understand the critical importance of proper containment, compliance, and safety when dealing with hazardous materials.
The chemical industry in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast is one of the largest in the nation. From petrochemical plants to specialty chemical manufacturers, we serve businesses that require reliable, certified containers for their operations.
Chemical Compatibility Warning
Always verify chemical compatibility with HDPE before using an IBC. While HDPE is resistant to many chemicals, some substances require special materials or coatings. Contact us with your specific chemical for compatibility verification.
Our Chemical Industry Certifications
UN/DOT Certification
Required for transport of hazardous materials. Our UN-rated IBCs meet all DOT regulations for shipping dangerous goods.
UN31HA1 Rating
Composite IBC with rigid HDPE inner container and steel cage. Rated for packing groups II and III hazardous materials.
Pressure Testing
All UN-rated IBCs undergo hydrostatic testing to verify structural integrity and leak resistance.
Material Certification
Documentation of inner bottle material composition and chemical compatibility.
Chemical Types We Support
We provide appropriate container solutions for a wide range of industrial chemicals. Each type has specific requirements we can help you navigate.

Understanding UN Packing Groups
Hazardous materials are classified into packing groups based on danger level. This determines the container requirements for safe transport.
| Packing Group | Danger Level | Description | IBC Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | High | Great danger - most dangerous substances | Special IBCs required |
| II | Medium | Medium danger - hazardous substances | UN31HA1 (Standard) |
| III | Low | Minor danger - less hazardous substances | UN31HA1 (Standard) |
Important Note on Packing Group I
Standard IBCs are NOT suitable for Packing Group I (highest danger) materials without special approval. These materials require specially designed and tested containers. Contact us for guidance on PG I material handling.
Chemical Safety Features
Our chemical-grade IBCs include features designed for safe handling of industrial chemicals.

Chemical Industry FAQs
What does UN certification mean for IBCs?
UN (United Nations) certification indicates that an IBC has been tested and approved for transporting hazardous materials internationally and domestically. UN31HA1 is the most common designation for composite IBCs, indicating an HDPE inner container with a steel cage. The certification specifies what hazard classes and packing groups the container is approved for.
Can I reuse an IBC that held chemicals?
It depends on what the IBC previously held and what you plan to store. Some chemicals leave residues that are difficult to remove or can contaminate new contents. We can help you determine if a reconditioned IBC is suitable for your specific application, or if you need a new container with documented clean history.
How do I know if my chemical requires a UN-rated IBC?
If you're transporting hazardous materials by road, rail, air, or water, you likely need UN-rated containers. Check your chemical's Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for shipping classification. If it has a UN number and hazard class, you'll need appropriate packaging. For storage only, requirements vary by state and local regulations.
What is the shelf life of a UN-certified IBC?
UN certification typically expires 5 years from the date of manufacture for new IBCs. After this, the container can be reconditioned and re-certified if it passes inspection and testing. The certification date is marked on the UN label. Some chemicals may have shorter container life requirements specified in regulations.
Do you provide chemical compatibility verification?
Yes, we can help verify compatibility between your chemicals and our HDPE containers. We maintain compatibility charts and can consult with you on special requirements. For unusual chemicals or applications, we recommend testing with a sample before full-scale use.
What documentation do you provide with UN-rated IBCs?
We provide UN certification documentation, test reports where applicable, material certificates, and content history for reconditioned containers. This documentation is essential for regulatory compliance and we ensure it's complete with every qualifying container.
Need Chemical-Grade IBCs?
